About Us

Reclaiming Pittsburgh: A community of empowerment, shared leadership, and potent magic.

Reclaiming as a practice began in the 70’s in California. It is an earth-based, goddess-centered faith. You can read more about Reclaiming from a broader perspective here.  If nothing else, it is worth the time to read the Principles of Unity, as that is the closest our practice comes to a core set of beliefs.

Reclaiming Pittsburgh is a group of religious witches practicing in the greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area. This group began in 2015, though people have been working on starting a Reclaiming group here in the ‘Burgh for way longer.  This statement is a combination of our original vision developed in 2015 and has been adapted based on brainstorming and discussion by group members in the Spring of 2016.

Reclaiming Pittsburgh Vision Statement

We desire to create a growing body of workshops and classes in person and online for increasing personal and social power while building healthy community in the Pittsburgh area. We believe magic changes the world through changing our consciousness at will, and we commit to bringing that magical change into our community.

★ We strive for relevance, honesty, and integrity

★ We honor truth-telling, deep & unflinching listening, and authentic emotion

★ We empower ourselves, each other, and our community to action

We value shared overt leadership, and acknowledge that those who invest the most energy are the primary shapers of this community. We foster cooperation and interconnection and we welcome all faiths, genders, races, and ethnicities.

Our Rituals are Ecstatic, Improvisational, Ensemble, Inspired, and Organic.

Our Structure

We organize via quarterly meetings and a yearly meeting. The yearly meeting is held in December. All meetings are run by consensus, you can read more about that process here. No meeting can be run without a quorum, which is to say we need at least one representative from each of our cells, with no person representing more than one cell.
